Jeffrey M. Van Diepen, President, CEO, MBA
Jeffrey M. Van Diepen founded Pestmaster Services in the small Eastern Sierra town of Bishop, CA in 1979. The company was borne with an earnest concern for the environment and safety, and the company has remained dedicated to providing pest management services with this idea front and center.
Jeff is a serial entrepreneur. He has started pest control operations from Florida to Hawaii and from Washington State to Washington, D.C. As of the writing of this in early 2017, we have 36 franchises and 3 company owned operations in 15 states and D.C. PCT Magazine ranks Pestmaster as the #80 pest control company in the nation (21,000 firms).
With a never ending goal of pursuing excellence, Jeff is committed to constantly “raising the bar” of professionalism in the pest control industry. To that end, he is or has been licensed in no less than 15 states. He’s received his Associate Certified Entomologist (A.C.E.) credentials from the Entomological Society of America, and earned an MBA from Pepperdine University, in Malibu, CA in 2008.
As an active member of the National Pest Management Association, Jeff has joined the exclusive group (less than 3% of USA pest control companies) and received the Quality Pro, Green Pro and Quality Pro Schools credentials.
Jeff’s passion is growing businesses and developing young PCO’s to embrace the unique profession of pest management. Pestmaster’s expert services are subscribed to by hospitals, utilities, numerous school districts, government agencies, commercial businesses and the hospitality sector. The knowledge has led to Jeff being a sought out expert for investment groups, attorneys in legal matters and specification writers for complicated pest control solicitations. Along with his talented team, Pestmaster is one of only 45 companies who have been able to navigate themselves into a contract with the federal government’s GSA multiple award system.
Pestmaster management and franchise owners have a rare opportunity to work with a true pioneer of “green” pest management, as Jeff identifies and creates new horizons and crafts systems and procedures that work. Accomplishing the “absence” of pests, with the use of low or non-toxic materials, is a standard operating procedure within the company.
Jeff is the proud father of a son and daughter, and grandfather to four. He’s also an accomplished private pilot and hunter.
Shelly Ichord: Vice President
Shelly Ichord came to Pestmaster after 17 years in the field of education. She serves as the Vice President of the company and is instrumental in steering the “Green” strategies the company embraces, using her experience as an educator.
Shelly also works closely with our finance staff, HR Department and marketing people to ensure the company’s Mission Statement is being advanced daily. She’s also been actively involved in the start-ups of some of the largest government and utility projects the company has been awarded, several of those being multi-million dollar projects.
With her experience, she is also a coach and mentor for young start-up Pestmaster franchise owners, and often assists these new owners and their spouses to understand their opportunities as well as the potential financial rewards associate with business ownership.
Shelly is also one of the five Board Members for Pestmaster Service Franchise Network and plays an active role in many of the decision-making policies and procedures in the Pestmaster franchise program. What she loves most about the company she works for is its commitment to the customers and our environment. Pestmaster Services is always on the cutting edge in providing safe approaches to pest control.
Shelly is the proud mother of two adult children, and balances her busy work schedule with travel, boating on Lake Tahoe, exercising, shopping and exploring new things. She also enjoys entertaining and caring for her two Golden Doodles dogs (Amalfi and Capri) who go to work with her every day.
Danny Campos: National Franchise Sales Manager
A proud veteran of the U.S. Armed Forces, Danny Campos has enjoyed a successful twenty five year career in sales and business development covering three industries to include real estate, publishing/media and national/international business and industry recruitment for the state of Nevada. During his time in these industries, Danny has experienced every level of sales, leadership roles and management holding positions from territory sales, to director of sales with several years holding two different regional and national vice president positions before joining Pestmaster Services.
Like several team members of Pestmaster Services, Mr. Campos is a veteran entrepreneur with years of business ownership in both California and Nevada owning businesses in real estate, landscape/ structure maintenance and executive sales and sales management training. Danny is responsible for all national franchise recruitment activity, management and leadership.
Jason Virden: Business Development and Contracts Manager
Mr. Virden brings over 30 years of business experience to Pestmaster Services. Over his career Mr. Virden has acted in the capacity of Administrative & Finance Manager, Director of Business Operations, Controller and General Manager in the service, retail and construction industries.
In addition Mr. Virden is an entrepreneur at heart as he has owned several businesses during his 30+ year career. For 10 years he was a partner in a chemical manufacturing company where he was responsible for Business Development and all financial matters. Under his direction the company was able to secure multiple commercial and government contracts selling a specialized patented product in the construction industry.
Mr. Virden’s, with his staff, is responsible for identifying local, state and federal opportunities that can help grow our existing franchise network and attract new franchise territories to focus sales efforts on.
Larissa Hartsook: Accounting and HR Manager
Larrisa Hartsook joined the Pestmaster family in June 2017, bringing over 20 years of accounting experience in Tribal Government, Logistics, and general accounting. She has lived in Northern Nevada since 1996 after growing up in California. Larrisa is dedicated to her career in accounting and strives for excellence in everything she does. In her spare time, Larrisa and her husband Don enjoy fishing, traveling, and rescuing dogs. She is excited to be among such a driven group of individuals here at Pestmaster Services.
Stuart Mitchell, DO, PhD, MPH, FAAIM, BCAAFP, DABFE, BCIM, CMI, BCE
With 35 years of experience, Stuart serves the pest management, public health, and environmental health industries. Consultant, expert-witness, author, and lecturer. As an observing physician, consulting clinical psychologist, veterinarian, and entomologist, Stuart holds and maintains the following academic degrees and board certifications.
